A big woof woof to Iams for another successful year of pet adoptions. This is their 11th year for their campaign, Home for the Holidays whose goal was to find many new homes for cuddly, furry, feathered, slithering and even some hardshell turtles a home. This year's goal was to have adopted 1.5 millions animals between October 1, 2009 and January 4, 2010 through some more than 3,900 rescue shelters or agencies.
This year they came close to their goal with having found happy homes for some 1,363,638 pets. The breakdown was:
729,357 dogs (53.5%)
588,265 cats (43.2%)
46,016 other pets (3.3%) .
But even though the official goal campaign ended, it never really ends as there are hundreds of thousands pets out there every day that still need a place to call home and a family to love them. Iams is out there every day championing the adoption of pets around the globe.
Considering a new pet? Consider adoption. I love my weimaraner and his hertitage, but when it is time to find him a brother, I will definitley go the route of pet adoption. You can find most any type of pet out there even pure breds if that is what you are looking for.
Don't have room for another pet? How about just donating to a shelter.... your time, a bag of food, and of course they are always willing to accept monetary donations.
